We Are The New Basis Strong Foundations in Health, Fitness, And Life

Quality Motion

Your body is an amazing machine that can do so much more than you think! It functions best when you move, and more importantly when you move well.

Quality movement, with your joints properly aligned and moving synergistically, is the foundation for less pain, more activity and a healthier life. Exercise isn't the “everything” in life for most of us, but it's a way to make sure you can enjoy your life to its fullest.

Our bodies still need to move to stay healthy, but for many of us movement is a means to an end.

Does your typical daily movement consist of moving from sleeping to sitting in a car to sitting at work, to sitting in the car, to sitting at home or a restaurant, and laying back down again for bed? Sounds fun, right? All that sitting contributes to postural issues, aches and pains, low energy and concerns about getting hurt when you even think about doing more. Movement should be more fun, and when you're having fun it's more sustainable and easier to be consistent with. We at The New Basis want to help you lead a life where you can do the activities you like and supplement with what you need to keep your body and mind as healthy as possible! We provide the opportunity, training and growth to help enhance the activities you are participating in or prepare your body to enjoy those you always wanted to try!

Whole Foods & Natural Nutrition

We believe that introducing lots of whole foods into your daily life is a necessity if you want to make lasting changes in your health and fitness.

Food that is nutrient dense instead of calorie-dense is key to feeling better and moving better. Your body functions best on nutrients it recognizes and knows how to digest and absorb. Not sure how to make the switch? We're here to help you figure it out!

Owner/Lead Trainer

Julie is a Bay Area native, growing up in San Jose, CA. She has always loved being active and helping people, so as she was finishing her BA in Social Work it was a natural fit to join the fitness industry when she started coaching competitive swimming at the high school and club level for her “fun jobs”. Eventually she recognized her love for coaching and pursued a career coaching swimming to make a difference in the lives of students through sport. While struggling with her own weight issues and the increasing demands of a growing family, she decided to leave the coaching world and focus on getting healthy for herself and her family. Little did she know that buying the NASM Certified Personal Trainer book to do her own personal research and fitness planning would lead her into a life-changing career where she could help people make positive and lasting healthy lifestyle changes and still have time with her husband and family.

Training clients through the years has taught her so much about how to make an impact on the world, one client and family at a time. Fascinated by movement and posture’s effects on joint function and comfort, she prides herself on helping clients move better, reduce pain and discomfort, look better, feel better and live fuller lives. She loves helping clients improve and achieve their goals in weight loss, injury prevention and post-rehabilitation, sports performance, swimming technique and more. Her favorite sports are swimming, mountain biking and snowboarding, and when Julie’s not training clients or herself, you’ll most likely find her out and about with her best friend, husband and business partner Drew and their 3 beautiful kids (ages 3, 5, and 7).
